Bali is a province of Indonesia, so an Indonesia plan covers it — there is no Bali-only product. What sets Bali apart is the user profile: alongside ordinary holidaymakers there is a very large remote-working population in Canggu and Ubud, and their data needs are an order of magnitude different. Buy for which of those you are.
How much data do you need in Bali?

Coverage in Bali
Telkomsel has the widest reach and is what most travel eSIMs roam onto, with Indosat and XL behind it. The southern belt — Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu, Uluwatu, Sanur and Ubud — has strong 4G and increasingly 5G. The north and the mountains are a different picture: Munduk, Amed, the Sidemen valley and the route up Mount Batur all have real gaps. Ferry crossings to Nusa Penida and the Gilis lose signal mid-channel.
Arriving in Bali
DPS has wifi and the arrivals hall is chaotic enough that having data already working is a genuine advantage — you will want Grab or Gojek to book a car rather than negotiating at the taxi desk.
What catches people out
Indonesian SIM registration requires your passport
Local prepaid SIMs must be registered, and unregistered ones sold on the street are frequently deactivated. A travel eSIM avoids the whole issue.
North Bali and the mountains are genuinely patchy
Munduk, Amed, Sidemen and the Batur sunrise trek all have coverage gaps. Download offline maps before heading up.
