Best eSIM for Kenya and Tanzania
Short answer
The classic safari pairing. East Africa regional bundles exist, and one plan covering both is usually available.
One plan or two, priced live
One plan wins. Measured at a comparable trip size (at least 3 GB over 7+ days), the cheapest eSIM covering Kenya and Tanzania together is $13.00, against $23.40 for two single-country plans — cheaper by $10.40, and it saves managing two eSIMs across a border.

Why this pairing needs thought
Kenya and Tanzania are the standard East African safari circuit, often combined with Zanzibar — which is part of Tanzania and covered by a Tanzania plan. Both countries are reasonably well served by travel eSIMs, so the main risk is buying a plan that covers one and assuming it covers the other.
Check for an East Africa or Africa regional bundle covering both before buying twice. One thing no eSIM solves: M-Pesa in Kenya needs a local Safaricom number, so if you plan to use mobile money you will want a local SIM alongside whatever data plan you choose.

Kenya and Tanzania: common questions
Coverage is read from each plan's own country list at page load, so “covers the whole trip” means the plan names every country — not that it is marketed for the region. Always reconfirm at checkout. Updated for 2026.
